Registration G-ECVB

June 2002

Hi Paul

Just to let you know I flew G-ECVB for the first time yesterday evening (16th June). All went well, everything worked, much easier to land than an SE5A !

Regards

Keith

Hi Paul

Latest photo attached - I hope the resolution is OK, I kept it low to keep the file size reasonable. If you want a much bigger file I've got one available ! The weight and balance is now done, C of G is fine but the empty weight is about 20 lbs more than I'd hoped for.No surprises there then ! Still got plenty of room for me and fuel and as passenger weight seems to be limited by physical access to the front seat I'm not anticipating any problems. I've also started the engine for the first time. Took me by surprise when it burst into life, I've had it so long I tended to think of it as just a lump of metal. My home made silencer/carb heat works well, I may add the Swiss silencer later. All the controls are adjusted so I need to lock everything up, fit the harnesses and get the last few signatures. A bit more ground running, bit of taxying practice and off we go.

Still hoping to see you at Sywell,

Regards Keith

A couple more photos of my Aircamper as promised. I'm just waiting for the weather to improve so I can get the wings on, get it outside and start the engine. After that it's weighing and cosmetic bits to finish. I might just make Sywell if the weather improves and I get my finger out.

Hi Paul

I was looking at your Aircamper site and I realised I'm not listed under builders/project news etc. So a few words and one picture for you. Everything is covered and painted, the cowlings are made, the struts are made and I'm now into final assembly. Having got it all rigged I removed the wings temporarily to make it easier to install the instrument panels (now done) and to do the fuel flow check. I've already checked the flow rate on the tank - OK down to 3/4 gallon which is far better than I expected so I need to see what I can achieve with the tank installed. Once that's done the wings go on for (hopefully) the last time and I can adjust the ailerons. The rudder and elevators are already done.

After that there are only two hurdles left, starting the engine and the weight and balance. I'm hoping to take some more pictures soon, with luck I'll be able to send one of the complete aircraft in a couple of weeks. All this is taking place in the hangar at a new strip new Chilbolton, I'll be keeping my SE5A there as well. All I need is a couple of hours of decent weather.

Who knows, I may even get to Sywell this year.
