Sept 2001

Ply sides glued into place and the instrument panels finally mounted. I have built a 'locker' into the front, which will also serve as access to the front instruments, negating the need for a removalable inst panel or access panel on the forward side...also mounted a A S & S throtle quadrant in the rear cockpit.

June 2001

After much thought and discussion I decided to install heel brakes. I have used a couple of Matco 'Lay-down' master cylinders acquired from Aircraft Spruce, positioned so that my heel lays comfortably against the brake lever at all rudder pedal positions. Given more time and engineering expertise I would have probably gone for a joystick mounted brake lever, giving differential braking depending on rudder pedal position!

May 2001

Well we are all allowed to dream aren't we?

Apr 2001

Harness frame installed as per Hal Danby PFA mod, and supplied by Aviation Metalcraft.

FEB 2001

Turtle deck complete...looking at ways to attach tailplane as I'm not too happy with the idea of screws??

End of 2000 progress...the primary flight controls are now fitted, apart from the rear rudder pedals as I have yet to decide on the braking system. I was a little concerned about fitting pedals as opposed to a rudder bar in the rear, as the 'loop' would no longer be closed. But if the Pitts can cope with just return springs on the front pedals, I'm sure a 'Camper' can! Subject to PFA inspection of course!

Work on the internal bits'n'bobs has definitely been easier with the ply sides off.

Sept 2000

Fuselage sides now joined. All cross struts, seat backs etc... in place.

The revised PFA plans for the seats means I can now take my pet elephant for a ride in the front , in the knowledge that it's strong enough to survive one of my landings!!
